Brian Johnson – How I’m Setting My Intentions & Goals for 2010

Brian Johnson #1I am a big proponent of goal setting.  I am sure if you are a regular reader of this blog, you aren’t surprised.  Intentions and  goals, if done correctly, can propel you forward, rapidly, towards your predetermined and clearly stated objectives.  Done incorrectly, can frustrate the stink out of you!

I watched a video from Brian Johnson, of PhilosophersNotes.  He brought up some very important points.  One of them is, people are entirely too fixated on outcomes.    Outcomes are important, otherwise, why would we bother to set goals?  His point is that if we focus more on the process and rituals (habits) the outcomes will come. Outcomes should be a by-product of successfully set and executed goals.

So many people set goals and proceed to focus on the outcome until they stress themselves out to the maximum degree!  They don’t reach their goals and in the process they become convinced that goal setting doesn’t work for them.

This 9 minute video has many other great points that you should get first hand by watching Brian’s video.  Feel free to leave a comment and retweet!  🙂
