Thoughts – How to Turn Negatives to Positives – Part 1

What is so bad about feeling good?  That is the million dollar question!  We are locked into our own brains 24/7/365.  Have you ever stopped to think about what you think about all day?  That seems like a strange question, but let me make it a little more clear.  Are you thinking negative thoughts or positive thoughts?

I have heard some people say, “Well, I don’t believe in that positive thinking stuff!”  OK….than what do you believe in?  Negative thinking?  We humans are a different breed of organism.  If we were to tap into the thinking process of another animal, let’s say, a dog.  Would we be hearing negative or positive stuff?  Probably neither.  Dogs and most animals live  in the “now“.

Because I am an avid dog lover. I feel fortunate to have had the company of different canines, who have graced the hearth of my home my entire life.  One of my favorite shows is “The Dog Whisperer“.    Cesar Millan puts things in easy to understand ideas.  I have learned from him that, dogs react in the moment and being pack animals they are very sensitive to the energies around them.  They focus more on reading their pack leader’s energy then having negative thoughts. Dogs don’t sit around all day and wonder if someone likes them, or are they too fat, or how come I am such a dud.

Humans minds can be a breeding ground for negative and self defeating thoughts.  Negative thoughts can steal your success right out from under you.  A question that I get asked over and over again is “how can I stop thinking negative thoughts?”

Monitor Your Thoughts

That sounds like a huge inconvenience.  But, lack of money, lack of success, lack of intimate personal relationships are all a huge inconvenience also.  If you are just starting out on your journey of changing your negative thoughts to positive thoughts, start out by taking notice of your thoughts every time you start to feel down or depressed.  Those emotions are letting you know that what you have been thinking is not positive.  You aren’t feeling good thinking that thought.  As soon as you are aware that your thoughts have taken a turn for the negative say to yourself, “Stop!”  Then ask yourself,

How Does This Thought Serve Me?

Does this thought or belief work for me?  Does it help me?  Why am I thinking this thought?  For instance, if you are thinking thoughts of illness, why are you thinking those thoughts?  Are you afraid of that illness?  If so, why?  Do you believe that if you worry about an illness or situation that it won’t happen to you?  I have a friend that believes if she worries about something than it won’t happen.  Do you believe that?  If you have been a reader of my self improvement blog for very long, you will notice that I believe “what you focus on grows”.  Are those thoughts of illness what you want to see manifest in your life?

Monitoring your thoughts sounds like an overwhelming project but after you have done it for awhile you won’t have to be so vigilant.  Remember, that what you think and believe is what is fueling your subconscious and that is responsible for your present reality.
